A photographic exploration of barbers' shops in Accra
Young Nigerian photographer Andrew Esiebo stopped in Accra from January 25th to February 5th within the framework of the 2011 Artistic creation Prize award he received from the Musée du Quai Branly.

His multimedia project, ‘Pride’, is an exploration of male hair barbing in West Africa’s major cities, investigating the barbers’ shops and salons as spaces of transformation, confidences and exchanges. L’Institut français du Ghana and Alliance française d’Accra were glad to support his stay by providing an artist studio for this short residence, but this trip to Accra was not the first one, since Andrew was already invited to take part in a photo workshop in 2007 with Franco-Algerian photographer, Bruno Boudjelal. After Ghana, he will be visiting Abidjan, Monrovia, Bamako, Dakar, Nouakchott, and Lagos.
